Faye is a qualified specialist nurse in ear wax removal and ear health, in Bristol and Bath.  She is a member of The Royal College of Nursing and The Nursing and Midwifery Council.  Faye believes that everyone should be able to access high quality, gentle and caring ear wax removal.

Faye trained as an aural care specialist nurse at United Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Trust, in 2013.  She is highly specialised in microsuction and manual instrumentation procedures to clean the ear canal, by removing wax, dead skin debris, discharge and foreign bodies.  She is also highly specialised in microscopic examination of the ear following cleaning and any ongoing care that may be necessary.

Treatment for ear wax

Ear wax usually passes out of the ear canal on its own, but sometimes it builds up leading to a blockage.

Ear wax removal is provided where the patient experiences any of the following:

• Impact on hearing. Hearing clearly can improve a sense of wellbeing and self esteem.
• Feels uncomfortable
• Itching
• Earache
• Impact on the performance of hearing aids
• Wax removal required prior to a hearing test

Removal of the foreign body from the ear, is available.

Assessment only is available, this includes otoscopic (a microscopic view) examination of the ear and advice.

NHS Work

Within her NHS post, Faye works within the Ear, Nose and Throat service as a lead Aural Care Specialist Nurse, more recently at The Royal United Hospital Bath NHS and The University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, since 2013.  She manages complex ear health, this includes chronic ear pathology such as eczema and psoriasis, as well as previous ear surgery.

Faye completed Specialist Head and Neck Anatomy and Physiology and Physics of Sound and Hearing, at Leicester Medical School, in 2003, where she qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist.

Faye is an award winning provider of Ear Wax Removal.  In 2021 she was awarded specialist of the year, in the South West UK, by The Southern Enterprise Awards.

Personal

In her personal life, Faye enjoys gardening and having a go at growing her own organic vegetables on her newly acquired allotment.  She also enjoys cycling and swimming.
